It’s a bright crisp morning, early in the year and the Sherkin and Cape Clear ferries are waiting at Baltimor pier. Their strong red and orange colours are reflected in the blue water which ripples gently. Folk in the harbour go about their day. The foreground perspective leads our eye across to Sherkin Island, and we can see the familiar outline of the Abbey and the Sherkin Trees that stand tall beside it, silhouetted on the horizon. The large panoramic canvas emphasises the mighty panorama opening out before us.
